It’s finally time! Get ready to send out your paleontologists – word has spread that there are new fossils to be found. Effective immediately, the Stone Age can be unlocked at Museum Level 3, allowing your paleontologists to return with Woolly Rhinoceros and Glyptodon fossils – and, after some extensive searching, Ground Sloth fossils.

The Woolly Rhinoceros was slightly larger than its modern-day counterparts, and as its name suggests, was rather furry. It coexisted with mammoths and humans – many cave paintings illustrate this ancient colossus. These paintings and skeleton finds suggest it roamed most of Northern Europe and Siberia.

On the other side of the world, the Glyptodon – a giant armadillo roughly the same size and weight as a Volkswagen Beatle – wandered the Stone Age Americas. It is related to modern day anteaters, sloths and armadillos. It is believed that it was a herbivore – it had a massive shell and bony armor on its head and tail for protection.

Our third extinct animal was also native to what are now the Americas. The Ground Sloths were herbivorous giants that appear to have become easy prey to humans due to their large size, slow movement, and tendency to feed in open areas. It remains unknown whether humans or climate change were responsible for their extinction.

With a bit of luck and a lot of research, you’ll be able to bring these Stone Age giants back to life in your zoo! So head on over and discover these awe-inspiring, extinct creatures.
