Terrors of the Tertiary

Dust off that digging equipment! Word is new fossils have been discovered in My Free Zoo!
2015-09-16

Now you can unlock a whole new era for your Natural History Museum

The Tertiary is a somewhat outdated term for the time period between the age of dinosaurs and the modern day; it begins with the suspected asteroid impact that sealed the fate of the dinosaurs and ends with the begin of the Quaternary ice ages. Modern paleontologists divide this period into the Paleogene and Neogene. During this time period, almost all well-known mammal families developed, also giving this period the name "Age of Mammals."

The Tertiary can be unlocked in your Natural History Museum at museum level 5 for 25,000,000 Zoo Dollars

Sending a Paleontologist out to hunt for fossils costs 35,000 Zoo Dollars. It will take a Paleontologist 14 hours to successfully return home with a fossil pieces.

As in previous eras, the era starts with two animals unlocked - the Kelenken and Deinotherium; as soon as you complete a full skeleton of these two animals, a third animal will be unlocked: Megalodon!

Want to learn more about these cool critters?

Kelenken (Terror Bird)
Kelenken were large flightless birds native to South America, belonging to the group of Terror Birds. Due to the shape of their beak and skull, it is assumed that they were carnivorous and killed prey holding it down and kicking and pecking it with their beaks.
It will take you 12 fossil pieces to complete a skeleton, and 15 animal card pieces to bring this ferocious bird back to life

Deinotherium
This massive elephant-like creature only died out about 1 million years ago. It was native to Europe and Asia, and is distinguished by its unique, downward-curving tusks.
It will take you 11 fossil pieces to complete a skeleton, and 15 animal card pieces to bring this trunked giant back to life.

Megalodon
The Megalodon is believed to be the largest shark species that ever lived. With an estimated length of 20m and 50 tonnes, this animal is sure to have been the undisputed king of the seas 2.6 million years ago.
It will take you 10 fossil pieces to complete a skeleton, and 12 animal card pieces to bring this colossal fish back to life.
