Like all lemurs, the red ruffed lemur is native to Madagascar. Its habitat, however, is restricted to the rainforests of Masoala, in the northeast of the island. Being one of the largest primates of Madagascar, this unique animal can reach a body length of up to 20 inches, a tail length of 23.6 inches, and weigh close to 8 pounds.
